Rabbi Gerber will be leading a discussion on the book “Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots,” a 2012 memoir in which author Feldman documents the story of her repression by, and escape from, an ultra-religious Jewish community in Brooklyn, New York. The Netflix miniseries “Unorthodox” is loosely based on the book and will provide you with good background if you are unable to read the book but want to attend.
