The Abraham Accords and the Future of Israeli-Arab Dialogue With Hussein Aboubakr Mansour

Saturday, December 10, 2022 16 Kislev 5783

11:45 AM - 2:00 PM

Cairo-born educator and author Hussein Aboubakr Mansour was raised in a conservative Egyptian Muslim family obsessed with antisemitic hatred of Jews. His critical intellect led him to question these attitudes, learn Hebrew, and forge friendships with Israelis, resulting in clashes with his family and security agencies.

He was jailed and tortured under suspicion of being an Israeli agent, and eventually received political asylum in the US. His gripping, beautiful autobiography (and documentary film), “Minority of One: The Unchaining of the Arab Mind," follows his remarkable journey from a would-be jihadist to advocate for peace.

Hussein will share his personal story of life in Egypt, antisemitism, and his transformation, and transformation in Arab-Israeli relations brought on by the Abraham Accords and its effect on Israel’s relationship with Palestine. Q&A to follow.
